I’d be lying if I said buying Riley new Summer clothes didn’t excite me… but we all know it does! When it comes to picking out her stuff, I always try to stick to a budget and only splurge on things I know I can resale.
If you’re new here, I resale all of our name brand stuff when we’re done with it… so we can buy more stuff!
Some of my favorite places to shop for her stuff are… Target, GAP, Nordstrom, Old Navy and Matilda Jane. Most play clothes come from Target + Old Navy. Her nicer items come from GAP, Nordstrom and Matilda Jane.
I try to always go up a size in her clothes, so she can get enough wear out of them! Growth spurts are real + drive me crazy! I use to be one of those parents that yelled “you can’t jump in that puddle, you have on nice clothes” but now that I’m a little older and I’d like to think a little wiser… I let my youngest jump in any puddle she sees.
If I could go back in time and change one parenting fail, this would be it. I never let my oldest daughter enjoy these simple things, and that’s something I will always regret!
My point to all of that is.. I try really hard not to buy clothes with the impression that they wont be played/lived in! So here’s our picks of what Riley Mae will be sporting this summer. Everything ranges from the low- medium price range, so I think there’s stuff in here for every budget!
Up first are our recent buys from dress section at Target. These are perfect to throw on for a fun play-date, dinner out with the family or just when you need something easy for them to wear.
I like to put these shorts under any dress Riley wears… we’re still working on dress manners… if you know what I mean!
Watermelon Dress | Orange + Pink Maxi | Yellow Stripes | Pink Pineapple Dress | Retro Dress
Since were talking about dresses… here’s some of my favorites from Mini Boden, which is carried at Nordstrom. These run a little pricier than Target, but I like to splurge on these when we have a special event coming up.
Plus, let’s be honest… I splurge on it because I just love all their stuff!
Lemon Dress | Green Dress | Flower Dress | Blue Dress | Rainbow Stripes
Next up are my favorite play clothes! I always buy all the shorts + t-shirts by Cat and Jack at Target because… 1) it’s crazy cheap and 2) it’s just practical! If you love $4 shirts + $5 shorts… you’ll totally understand this cuteness!
Giraffe Top | White Top | Kindness Top | Polka Dot Top | Fun Top
Chambray Shorts | Pink Shorts | Polka Dot Shorts | Ruffle Shorts | Striped Shorts
When it comes to shoes.. most of the time I splurge. Saying that, I always justify it because Riley is pretty good on her shoes and I always resale them for almost what I paid for them. She also has a very narrow foot, so cheaper shoes most of the time don’t work for her.
Target is my go to for play or pool shoes. The shoes on the end are perfect for playing in the yard or at the playground. The pink ones in the middle is what she has for when we go to the pool.
Strawberry Jellies | Gold Sandals | Pink Jellies | Pineapple Sandals | Pink + Teal Shoes
When I splurge on Riley’s everyday shoes, I normally go to Nordstrom and stick with Mini Melissa or Salt Water Sandals. If you’ve never heard of Mini Melissa… let me just tell you that they’re the cutest shoes ever. They either come in jellies or rubbery Mary Janes with a fun icon on the top. I can honestly say they’ve been our favorite since Riley started walking. They’re also really comfortable and clean up like new with a Mr. Clean magic eraser!
So this makes it totally OK to own so many pairs, right?
White Sandals | Pink Jellies | Unicorn Shoes | Jack Rogers | Converse
Last but not least, is the bathing suits! I’m horrible about buying Riley way too many bathing suits, but we basically live at the pool with our friends in the summer, so this helps the buyers remorse! Get ready for some cuteness overload!
Mini Boden Two-Piece | Lemon Swimsuit | Flower Two-Piece | Strawberry Suit | High Wasted Two-Piece
So, that’s our Summer picks in a nutshell! I’m sorry I’m just now getting around to doing a Toddler Fashion post. I’ve had several request for this type of post, but never really had the time to sit down and get one done! If this is something you guys like, I’ll make sure to do them with every season!
I hope everyone has a great weekend, and if you’re in the South… hopefully we’ll get some sunshine to make up for all of this rain!
xoxo- Lauren
