Botox.
A five letter word, that no one likes to use.
Most fear they’ll be judged, some are too ashamed to admit they get it and others are strictly scared it will mess up their face. While it’s not for everyone, many women (even men) are very interested in it, but never talk about it because of the crazy backlash. Well, not this girl! I’m putting it on blast and going over these topics + why I’m not ashamed to admit that I LOVE Botox.
“You’re being judged no matter what, so be who you want to be.”
If that quote isn’t true, I honestly don’t know what is. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve told my friends these exact words! Sadly, we live in a world where people talk… and talk…. and talk some more! It’s beyond annoying, but it’s life. You can either let it make or break you.
Luckily, when I was ready for my first Botox appointment, I reached out to a friend who was honest + well-educated on the matter. She never judged me and answered all of my crazy questions! (trust me, there were a million) She helped ease my fears while telling me all the do’s & dont’s.
Not only was she open and honest, but she was beyond comforting. I always ask myself, what if she never opened up about it and feared being judged? Who would I have asked?
The answer: No one! I didn’t know anyone else who had tried it…. or did I?
“Online dating is like Botox… No one talks about it, but everyone does it.”
The people who are too ashamed to admit they get Botox on the regular… are honestly the worst. I’m not talking about “normal” people. No, I’m talking about the “important” people. Public figures so to speak. Take beauty guru’s on YouTube or Instagram. You know, the ones that make you want to go buy a damn $100 moisturizer because you believe your skin will look like theirs. Or the ones that urge you to go buy all the makeup they’ve used, so you can achieve their flawless look. THOSE PEOPLE! (you know who you are!)
We’ve all been a victim of these lies. Whether you want to believe it or not. When I think about all the skin care products I’ve bought thinking my wrinkles would actually go away, I seriously get sick to my stomach. Yes, there are some out there that will help, but there’s nothing that will take it away.
Do I think Influencers should say in every video/post that you can achieve this look with all these products + 30 units of Botox? (well yeah, that would be nice) No, but at least do a video/post on the matter and be honest about how often you get it!
“You better believe, I’m watching your forehead when you talk and if it ain’t movin, you ain’t foolin!”
“Controlling my tongue is no problem. It’s my face that needs deliverance”
I think my biggest fear before Botox was “will it mess up my face.” I mean, if I’m being completely honest, I’ve never hated my face. Have I wished my forehead was smaller, Yes. Was there anything to do about it, No. Same applies with my nose… Do I love the way it looks, No. Am I willing to do anything about it, No.
After I felt educated + researched who to go to, my fears slowly went away. Picking your injector is key to a big part of this. I see a Nurse Practitioner, and recommend that all my friends do the same. You wouldn’t believe some of the people out there that are giving injections when they aren’t qualified to do it. So always, always do your research!
I also go in to my appointments with the “less is more” motto. You can always get a touch up if you didn’t get enough.
Personally, I wanted Botox because I was tired of looking exhausted. I was also tried of the sinus headaches I was getting, daily. And man oh man, about 7 days after my first appointment, I was looking like I just came back from a stress free vacation + I was headache FREE!
I started getting Botox a year ago, and it’s honestly been something I really enjoy. I’ve gone to the same person every time, with no problems. I get a total of 25-30 units in my forehead, frown/glabellar lines and above my eyebrows. Botox takes 7-10 days before the full effect kicks in. However, I always come out of my Botox appointment looking refreshed. Since I’ve had four treatments, it no longer takes 7 days for me to see results… it’s more like 4-5.
I also like to eat a lot of pineapple the day before/day of my appointment to help with bruising.
This post isn’t to lead you towards getting Botox. It’s just me being open and honest with you about what I do to my face. I get a lot of questions about my skin care + makeup routine, and I never want y’all to think that a cream can give you a smooth forehead.
It frustrates me that so many people who advertise beauty products leave out the main ingredient to their skin regimen. I feel like if I’m going to tell you what size jeans I wear (which is a six, if you didn’t know)… then you should know that I get Botox injected in my forehead, every 3-4 months.
Of course, I don’t owe anyone this information, but I refuse to be one of those bloggers that hide it. I’ve never had plastic surgery, but I’ve had plenty of friends that have. I’ve supported each one of them, too. I feel like this world is full of petty + insecure girls/women, and I choose not to be one of them.
Of course I think everything should be done within reason, but to each their own. I just think life would be easier if we came together and we’re actually real with each other.
I heard someone say the other day that so-and-so was pretty because they got Botox. {insert eye roll here} This honestly cracked me up. I wish Botox was that powerful, BUT it’s just not. I felt so bad for the person that said it, because she had no idea how ignorant she sounded.
Bless her heart, y’all!
Girls, if our beauty is determined by the wrinkles on our forehead, then we’re all doomed.
If you’re in the Chattanooga area, looking for a Botox injector, check out my sweet friend Alisha at Premier Medical Aesthetics. She offers many services and is beyond educated in all areas. Like I said before, she’s also a Nurse Practitioner. Below are some pictures of before and afters. Stay tuned for an update on what else I had done at that appointment! If you follow me on Instagram, you probably already know!
Botox time! Bye Bye Wrinkles!
Two hours after I got Botox.

I hope y’all found this post helpful… or at least interesting.
I should also note that I don’t get comments about my RBF (resting b*tch face) anymore!
